The Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) in Accounting at Western New Mexico University focuses on understanding, recording, analyzing, and reporting financial information.

Students learn how businesses track financial activity, comply with laws and regulations, prepare taxes, and ensure accuracy in financial reporting. The program covers key areas such as financial accounting, auditing, taxation, fraud detection, and accounting systems.

In addition to specialized accounting coursework, students complete a strong business core—including finance, marketing, management, economics, and business law—providing a well-rounded business education.

Admissions & Program Requirements

There are no special admission requirements beyond standard university admission criteria.

To complete the program, students will:

  • Finish the B.B.A. business core curriculum
  • Complete advanced accounting coursework, including Financial Accounting I–IV, Cost Accounting, Auditing, Tax Accounting, and Accounting Systems
  • Participate in applied learning experiences, such as VITA or internships
  • Complete a senior-level capstone course integrating accounting with overall business strategy

The program does not require a minor, allowing students to focus heavily on accounting and business coursework within the 120-credit-hour degree.

All School of Business programs are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP).

  • Covers key CPA exam areas such as auditing, taxation, and financial accounting
